A Justiça de Sergipe absolveu, nesta terça-feira (2), o ex-prefeito de Tobias Barreto Diógenes Almeida e um homem identificado como José Pereira de Souza. Os dois foram acusados por envolvimento na morte do radialista Cláudio Rotay, em 2002. A defesa dos envolvidos ainda não se manifestou sobre o caso.
Os dois foram levados a júri popular. O julgamento começou por volta das 10h30 desta terça e foi finalizado aproximadamente às 20h.

A vítima foi morta em um bar, com dois tiros no peito e um na cabeça, na noite do dia 17 de junho, quando três motoqueiros encapuzados passaram atirando. Na ocasião, um segurança do radialista morreu e outro ficou ferido. A suspeita era que o crime seria encomendado.
Na época, Rotay tinha 33 anos e era pré-candidato a deputado estadual. Ameaças contra o radialista costumavam ser gravadas e levadas ao ar em seu programa.
