Por sua atuação em defesa das tradições culturais de Sergipe, especialmente do município de Lagarto, a deputada estadual Áurea Ribeiro (Republicanos) vem se destacando na Assembleia Legislativa de Sergipe (Alese). No mês de abril ela apresentou o Projeto de Lei 141/2023 que declara a “Festa Religiosa de Nossa Senhora da Piedade na Cidade de Lagarto” como Patrimônio Cultural e Imaterial de Sergipe e solicita que o evento religioso seja incluído no Calendário Oficial de Eventos do Estado.
A Festa de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, padroeira de Lagarto, é realizada no dia 8 de setembro e mantém uma tradição que remonta ao século XVII, quando da fundação do povoado onde se localiza a praça da igreja matriz Nossa Senhora da Piedade.
Na justificativa da matéria, a parlamentar afirma que a comunidade católica se mobiliza para participar das inúmeras celebrações que tem como seu ponto alto a procissão. “Inclusive, um aspecto relevante do nosso patrimônio artístico e religioso, é a própria imagem da Piedade, que repousa no altar-mor do Santuário há 343 anos e foi coroada canonicamente por ordem do então Papa João Paulo II, havendo no Brasil apenas outras três coroadas de tal forma”, informou Áurea.
A deputada ainda exaltou que a realização desta festa, além de promover a valorização das tradições culturais e raízes lagartenses, fomenta o turismo religioso local, trazendo benefícios econômicos e culturais ao município, como também geração de vários empregos sazonais. “É um evento que reúne milhares de homens e mulheres em grande celebração de fé. Além de movimentar a economia da cidade, com grande potencial turístico dentro do segmento religioso”, conclui.
