Os novos números do Censo 2022 irão impactar diretamente no número de vereadores que alguns municípios sergipanos terão nas próximas eleições, a exemplo da capital sergipana, Aracaju.
A Constituição Federal estabelece o número de vagas nas Câmaras Municipais pelo número de habitantes do município. Com o resultado do Censo 2022, muitos municípios poderão ter aumento de vereadores em suas Câmaras Municipais.
A capital Aracaju tinha 570.937 habitantes, no Censo IBGE 2010, o que equivale a ter até 25 vereadores na Câmara Municipal. Entretanto, o Censo IBGE 2022, a população de Aracaju cresceu 5,53% alcançando o número de 602.757 habitantes. Logo, a Constituição Federal estabelece que municípios com população entre 600 mil e 750 mil habitantes podem ter até 27 vereadores. Assim, a capital sergipana pode ganhar mais três cadeiras chegando a ter 27 vereadores.
Agora, caberá a Câmara Municipal de Aracaju deliberar por meio de proposta de emenda à Lei Orgânica se aumenta o número de vereadores da capital de 24 para 27 a partir das próximas eleições.
