A gestão pública do prefeito Célio Lemos Bezerra está reprovada pelos professores do município de Neópolis por três razões específicas: Falta de condições de trabalho, desvalorização da profissão e salários defasados. Neópolis está classificado como um dos três municípios com menor salário pago aos educadores.
O SINTESE – Sindicato dos Trabalhadores em Educação Básica de Sergipe – vem travando lutas contra os abusos praticados pelo prefeito Célio de Zequinha e chegou a judicializar uma ação contra o prefeito pela falta de pagamento do piso dos professores.
Segundo o Sindicato, a falta de diálogo tem sido uma marca registrada da gestão do prefeito Célio Lemos Bezerra, que prefere o silêncio quando os professores abrem um processo de negociação salarial. Em 2020, enquanto a Prefeitura de Neópolis pagava um salário de R$ 1,826,65 aos professores, o piso era de R$ 2.886,24.
Além dos baixos salários, os professores de Neópolis reclamam do péssimo estado do transporte escolar, a baixa qualidade da alimentação nas escolas, precária condição de trabalho, falta de estrutura física das escolas e insuficiência de materiais didático-pedagógicos.
Os professores criticam a postura do prefeito Célio Bezerra e esperam que a Administração Pública Municipal resolva os problemas que assolam a educação de Neópolis. Para o Sintese, falta vontade política por parte do gestor municipal para solucionar as questões pendentes na área educacional.
