Com a chegada das eleições, o prefeito de Aracaju, Edvaldo Nogueira, fez críticas a última gestão de João Alves para colocar a rejeição em Emília Corrêa, que lidera a corrida eleitoral.
Em entrevista a Luiz Carlos Focca, a ex-secretária de Estado, Marlene Calumby, foi questionada sobre o tema e deixou claro que tudo não passa de interesse político.
Em sua argumentação, Marlene lembrou que Edvaldo, quando da morte de João, afirmou que o mesmo foi um dos principais políticos de Sergipe, sendo governador três vezes, prefeito e ministro de Estado, construindo um grande legado no estado.
“Eu pergunto quem é Edvaldo Nogueira? Ele disse isso no final de 2020 e agora dá uma entrevista no Jornal da Cidade do final de semana, desrespeitando a memória de João Alves Filho. Deus permita que se Emilia Correa chegar a ser prefeita, que o espírito de João Alves Filho possa iluminá-la em algumas ações”, retrucou Marlene.
