Em solenidade realizada na tarde desta quinta-feira, 27, a Prefeitura de Lagarto, por meio da Secretaria de Infraestrutura e Planejamento, realizou a inauguração da reforma da Praça Sebastião Garcêz, no centro comercial do município.
O evento contou com as presenças da prefeita Hilda Ribeiro, do deputado federal Gustinho Ribeiro, da deputada estadual Áurea Ribeiro, de vereadores e secretários executivos e de diversas lideranças evangélicas do município, acompanhadas por seus familiares e membros de diferentes denominações religiosas.
Estes tiveram um motivo bastante especial para prestigiar a solenidade. É que a Gestão atende, de forma inédita na história do município, uma antiga reivindicação da comunidade evangélica: para que fosse feito um monumento em homenagem a Bíblia Sagrada, e a prefeita Hilda atendeu, acrescentando ao projeto original um belo pedestal com uma bíblia sagrada, feitos em granito.
“Com certeza um dia de muita alegria e gratidão a Prefeita Hilda Ribeiro por este presente, porque há muito esperávamos por uma edificação destas na nossa cidade. Para nós, evangélicos de Lagarto, esta praça passará a se chamar ´Praça da Bíblia’”, disse Ruth Carvalho, que estava presente a inauguração.
A prefeita Hilda nos explica melhor toda essa realização que é considerada mais um dos presentes do Aniversário de 143 anos de Lagarto.
“Muito feliz por estamos entregando mais um espaço de lazer e convivência para nossa cidade. A Praça Sebastião Garcêz, que também passará a ser conhecida como ´Praça da Bíblia´, por conta deste símbolo de fé e devoção que edificamos em um lindo monumento. Sobre as demais benfeitorias executadas: a praça é toda em piso intertravado, para facilitar a vida de quem transita diariamente pelo centro comercial, fizemos a ampliação do estacionamento passando a contar com mais de 70 vagas, rampas de acessibilidade, instalação de pergolados, novos assentos, iluminação em Led e plantamos novas mudas de ipê. Já são mais de 25 espaços como este requalificados pela Prefeitura, para melhorar o dia a dia das pessoas” comentou a prefeita Hilda.

Um outro detalhe que deve ser observado ao visitar este espaço, foi a conservação e revitalização do pedestal e busto do ilustre lagartense Laudelino Freire, justamente quando a cidade rememora seu sesquicentenário – 150 anos – de nascimento.
