Um levantamento do Instituto Nacional de Cardiologia (INC) mostra que, entre 2008 e 2022, o número de internações por infarto aumentou no Brasil. Entre os homens, a média mensal passou de 5.282 para 13.645, alta de 158%. Entre as mulheres, a média foi de 1.930 para 4.973, aumento de 157%.
O estudo leva em consideração dados do Sistema de Internação Hospitalar do Datasus, do Ministério da Saúde. Por isso, cobre todos os pacientes brasileiros que usam os serviços do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), seja nos hospitais públicos ou nos privados que têm convênios. Isso representa de 70% a 75% de todos os pacientes do país.
Alguns fatores aumentam os riscos de infarto, informa o Instituto Nacional de Cardiologia. “O infarto do miocárdio acontece em populações mais idosas. E sabemos também do aumento da prevalência da obesidade na população brasileira”, explica a diretora-geral do INC, Aurora Issa.
Segundo Aurora, o frio também aumenta as chances de infarto. Dados do INC indicam que os casos são mais frequentes durante o inverno. No ano passado, o número de infartos nessa estação foi 27,8% maior em mulheres e 27,4% maior em homens na comparação com o verão.
“O frio leva à contração dos vasos [sanguíneos]”, diz a especialista. “A pessoa que tem um infarto, na maioria das vezes, já tem a placa de gordura nas artérias. O que leva ao infarto é uma inflamação na placa e a formação de um trombo em cima dessa placa. As infecções, muitas vezes, são um gatilho para a inflamação.”
As doenças cardiovasculares são a principal causa de morte entre homens e mulheres no Brasil. Entre 2017 a 2021, 7.368.654 pessoas morreram por esse motivo no país. De acordo com o INC, as principais formas de prevenção são a prática de exercícios físicos e a alimentação balanceada.
